Die so that God’s plan can come about!

Then David came to Saul and attended him; and Saul loved him greatly, and he became his armor bearer.

1 Samuel 16:21

Then David came to saul and attended him, served him. Who can I serve? This is a good thing. Serve the job, serve the person on the job, work as hard as you can, and then do something extra, so that you will get promoted. He attended him. He did not come to Saul and smart mouth. Give me, give me, give me. What am I going to get? Because of serving, Saul loved him. We should love everybody, but because we are not perfect, it is hard to love a lazy person. He saw something in David, saw his action. And he got a promotion to armor bearer.

David saw an open door and he took advantage of it. People usually do not see an open door. They see the things right in front of them. They cannot see the finished product. They see the chicken, but not the eggs. They see the cows, but not the beef. He saw an opportunity and jumped. It may not look like it, but this church is a church of tremendous opportunity - spiritual opportunity - we are doing what almost no other church is doing, what no church would do, what no church has the guts to do, so they would not do it. This is a place of business opportunities. Jump in to the door.

Now it came about when he had finished speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as himself.

1 Samuel 18:1

Something happened; a supernatural relationship. We need to be careful. Hopefully we will not fail as in the past. Hopefully we will not fail as most all people have failed in the past. We have seen a supernatural relationship, we have been put into a supernatural relationship, but when things got hard, or very hard, or unbearable, we broke that relationship. That is what usually happens. They have a relationship now. The question is, and to this question we know this answer, but what about in your life, when the price comes, when it gets hard, will you keep the relationship?

Are you here because of, like these two, they liked each other so they had a relationship. You like the bread, like the church, like the food, like the duplexes, like some of the people, you have a relationship, you are knitted together. How long will that last? When will that be broken? When will the price be too much? When somebody commands you? When someone says something you don’t like? When will the price be too much? When a better opportunity comes along? When it looks like a better opportunity comes along? When will that supernatural relationship, that being knitted together be broken so easily?

Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself.

1 Samuel 18:3

Then Jonathan made a covenant; it cost him everything. Simple thing to say, but he lost everything he had been raised for. Jonathan was going to be king, and he lost his throne because of David, he betrayed his father because of david, he lost his life because of David, he lost everything he had been trained for, raised for. He had been raised in a a household to be a king . Actually he did not loose it all. That is the wrong word. he actually gave it all up. Now that takes something. Lay down your job your future, your finances, your money, your kingdom, your thing, your wants, your desires, to die so that God’s plan can come about.
