Nehemiah Part 16: Most of the time, the majority is wrong
Nehemiah continued...
So what did Nehemiah do in verse 20? Did Nehemiah do like you, like me, like sometimes? Somebody questions it. What is Dove doing? Maybe you are too radical. No, this time you went too far. This time you bit off too much. Did Nehemiah get all insecure and say, “Oh man, they are coming against me! Oh they are mocking me and despising me again and again and again! Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe their right. Maybe sin’s not that bad. Maybe God just kind of takes care of everything. Maybe God takes care of the homosexual. I mean, after all, it is only important that we love one another. Maybe they are all right. Maybe it is really true because they all seem to be this way, and we seem to be this way.” It that what he did? No, Nehemiah knew that most of the time the majority is wrong. Most of the time, most all of the time, the majority is actually wrong. When did any great thing happen that started out with a majority? It may have gotten a majority sooner or later, but it did not start out that way. It started out with one, two, three, four hundred people. It never started out with a majority.
So I answered them and said to them, "The God of heaven will give us success; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no portion, right or memorial in Jerusalem." Nehemiah 2:20
He said to them you are wrong, we are right. I got an email saying why do you do that? A supposedly born again Christian. This is how little we know about the Word of God. He said, why do you do that, why do you say that? Islam is of the devil? Moslems are also the children of God. Sorry, its not true. If you want to know the truth, the Bible says they are the children of the devil. You see, children of God are people that are born again, washed by the Blood of Jesus - very simple Christian doctrine.
Not everybody is a child of God, no! Maybe everybody is created by God. But children of God are in the family. You see, this child over here is not yours. This child belongs to a family. It is your child, not a universal child that belongs to everybody. That little jack does not belong to Mark. He does not belong to Hendrik. “You don’t have any children, do you Hendrik?” “No Sir.” See, that child belongs to a family. The children of God do not belong to Mohammad’s family, they do not belong to Allah, they belong to Jesus Christ! That is the family of God.
Nehemiah said, “The God of heaven will give us success.” Now that is a faith sentence. I like that. Does he have success right now? No. he is even afraid to tell the people what he wants, because he knows they will probably run away. They will probably hide and give up. They will probably stop him because the work is too much, too many hours, it is too much!
But what does he say? God is going to give us success. You see, God is going to give us success. The only thing you have to decide, do you want to be a part of it? Do you want to be a winner or a looser? Do you want to take the easy way?
He said, “ but you have no portion, right or memorial in Jerusalem.”
You see all those people out there, I guess they have their families, their jobs, they have their normal life style, they are not living in the street. I guess they are good people, but they have no right, no portion. Oh, the guy out there who drives the UPS truck, the guy at Publix, the guy who does all the good, normal things. He has no part of the Kingdom of God. He has no portion. Oh yeah, he has his job and his money and his vacation, and his retirement. And they all of that. They had a life, they may have had a good life, but they had no portion in the Kingdom of God, in that eternal thing. They no portion in what was going to happen. At they end of their life they could not say, “I was a part.” They can say I did my thing, I did what I wanted to, I had a good life, I had lots of money, I had no money, they can say lots of things, but they can’t say I have a part. Maybe they would be on their bed dying and they say I had no part. I had a chance which I did not take, so now I have no part.
