Muslim Child Brides - a REALITY
Little girls become wives as early as the ages of nine and ten years old. They are married off to men who are three and four times their age. This is happening everyday in the religion of Islam. The marriages are arranged by their fathers. These little girls are afraid and alone with no support. If they try to return home to their families, then their father sends them back to the husband. In Islam, the family is dishonored when the daughter leaves the husband and the family is shamed. This is the reality for many young girls across the world who live under Islamic Sharia Law. The prophet Muhammed himself married a little girl who was only six years old. In Yemen, half of the girls are married before they turn eighteen. In the countryside, the villages are governed by the Islamic religious leaders who strictly follow the laws of Islam. In these remote areas, the little girls have no chance of rescue.
The following video is an interview with a ten year old girl who was married and divorced. Her parents arranged the marriage to a criminal who was more than three times her age. The man promised the parents that he would not touch her until she reached the age of twenty....the man did not keep his promise....
