Why do we say Islam is '...of the Devil' ?
We are often asked why we use the phrase Islam is of the Devil? It is called, by some, a hate message, slander against another religion, extra-Biblical, intolerant, non-Biblical or extra-Biblical. It is none of these, but I can see why people say what they do: they don’t know the Bible, they don’t believe the Bible, they don’t want to face the truths of the Bible. Or they don’t know Islam, they know little of what Islam teaches or what that teaching has produced since it became a world religion in the late 600s AD.
But we are Christians here at Dove World Outreach Center. We have no other truth than the Bible, the Word of God. We are commanded to speak and preach the truth, even if it costs us our lives, as it did Jesus and his disciples. You cannot shut Christians up, even if you attack a few, or many. Christianity will be here to confront the world with the truth, to offer the hope that is in that truth, until the end.
We go against Islam and the Devil at once, on one short sentence, because the Devil is the enemy of the Cross and Christendom, and we see Islam as the Devil’s main servant during these times we are living in.
All through the Bible, there is a clear ongoing description of the Devil’s war. From his rebellion against God in heaven,
“The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” Revelation 12:9
to his temptation of Adam and Eve, to his war against God’s creation through the end of time.
Islam is of the Devil because, like Satan, it is leading the whole world astray, away from the truth of God and knowledge of Jesus Christ, the only Savior of the world.
Offended?
Jesus himself used words and actions of kindness to draw people to him, but he often also used what was taken as offensive or aggressive words. He regularly confronted sin and unbelief, pride and false teaching.
These are the words of Jesus in John 6:60-71:
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?"
Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you? What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
"You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve.
Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."
Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!" (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)
Note that he called the traitor, Judas, “a devil,” so we could be even more blunt in confronting the false religion of Islam.
Children of the Devil: Believers and Non-Believers
In John 8, Jesus again says that you either love God by loving and following Jesus, or you are a child of the devil, a murderer or a liar. This is why we cause many people to be uncomfortable. We remind Christians that if they are not following Jesus’ teachings, even they may be considered by God a child of the devil, and non-Christians hate the ‘arrogance’ of the clear black and white line Christ lays out. Of course, no one can live a perfect life, but a committed Christian tries to follow Christ and is quick to repent and change, or work on changing, when he sees he is off track.
Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!
John 8:42-45
John taught the early Christians the same truths he heard from Jesus. In this passage he explains that Jesus died for our sins, and that when we, even as Christians, continue to sin are ‘of the devil,’ that sin itself is of the devil. So the phrase “...of the Devil” does not freak a born again Christian out, because we know that we also are judged. We are going with God or we are going with the Devil. But a Christian has Jesus, who saves if we repent, forgives, and sets us back into a right relationship with him. We know we are saved by faith, not works, but we have a fear of God about how we live because sin destroys and steals from our lives and those around us, just like the devil.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
1 John 3:1-10
One of the hallmarks of Islam is a lack of love and forgiveness. There is so much violent division and rivalry amongst Moslems all over the world, and well documented attacks against non-Moslems, all though Islamic history and on to the present day. The oppression of women and children; the training of children for terrorist acts, for life long hatred of Jews and Christians; the twisting of truths, the whimpering claims of victim status all over the world (when it is Islam that is the aggressor), the misrepresentation of history, the radical nazi-like goal of political domination of every nation of the world - these are not right, clearly not right. Not just in the eyes of Christians. These things are not right according to humanists, Buddhists, Hindus, agnostics, every type of people in the world - but very few Moslems speak out against these fruits of Islam.
Envy and Selfish Ambition
James speaks about bitter envy and selfish ambition being of the devil. If you read about the life of Mohammad, you can see that his leadership was born out of these weaknesses and has continued in his followers ever since. What better evidence of that is the heavily veiled and covered women? The men are so jealous of their women, so selfish about their own wants and desires in the homes and marriages, that they think nothing of the plight of these women and the lives they live, restricted, abused and oppressed.
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
James 3:13-18
Just a reminder - Islam is not a religion of peace. And in the Bible, Old Testament and New Testament, the violence that God condoned or that he himself sent on men (the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, the destruction of some of his own people in Exodus, the destruction of the Caananite tribes of Israel), was limited and necessary to bring peace for his people, those that did want to follow him, and to bring a warning to those who still had a heart to repent and follow God. Those that died sinned and had no mind to repent. God did not send his people to war for greed or wealth or power-lust, for world conquest or oppression of other nations - Islam’s motivation.
False Prophet and Sorcerer
In Acts 13, Paul confronted a false prophet and sorcerer called Elymas.
They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, "You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun."
Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.
Acts 13:6-12
We believe that Mohammad was a false prophet and sorcerer. There was a demonic anointing on his life and leadership, he was an enemy of everything that is right, full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Read about this in the many accounts of Mohammad’s life. These are written by Moslems themselves. His life and character is admired and copied by Moslem men. If Western Moslems reject some of his ways, they are still able to follow them when they want to, and be right in the eyes of Islam. The other challenge that 'moderate' Moslems face is that their moderation can be seen as rebellion, disobedience to their own teachings. This is why reforming Islam appears to be an impossible goal.
Anti-Christ
And finally, we say Islam is of the Devil because Mohammad never acknowledged that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, died on the Cross for the sins of the world, was resurrected, that he is the Son of God, God himself, the second person of the trinity. This denial is anti-Christ.
Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 2 John 1:7
Two Choices
Hate speech? Yes, we hate the devil and his work, and it is a message of love to tell people the truth and what is of God and what is of the Devil. This is not something new. This has always been the message of Christians.
Slander? Bigotry? Intolerance? If you think so, then you must judge the Bible that way, the Words of Christ that way. Have you no fear of God? Slander implies lying to defame. We speak the truth which is being covered up very cleverly by politically correct liberals, CAIR types and the media - that is where the lying happens. Not with us.
God is and was extremely tolerant of evil and wickedness, to a point. But there comes a judgement for all, there is an afterlife, a heaven and a hell. If you choose Jesus Christ as the only way and follow him in this life, you will get to heaven. Otherwise not. And while we are still in this life, how can God always be tolerant of evil and wickedness, never say any of it is wrong, never warn us, never speak out, just let us lead a blind unrepentant life and all go to hell.
That is not my God. He is a God of love.
So, like it or don’t like it, accept it or reject it, ISLAM IS OF THE DEVIL! What will you do with that statement? Support it or fight it? Support DWOC or fight DWOC? You have two choices.
