While they stood in their place, they read from the book of the law of the LORD their God for a fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the LORD their God. Nehemiah 9:3

The church has learned to ignore the Bible. The church has learned to interpret parts of the Bible. They have learned the art of disobedience, and not even feeling bad about it. 

The importance of the word of God. Sometimes we should just all come when we get ready to do something. In America we need to die a little bit to this independence and individualism.

Then I said to them, "Do not let the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot, and while they are standing guard, let them shut and bolt the doors. Also appoint guards from the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each at his post, and each in front of his own house." Nehemiah 7:3

Now when the wall was rebuilt and I had set up the doors, and the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed, Nehemiah 7:1

First was the wall. The wall was the protection. Prayer, attendance, being there. You are the wall. You are there to uphold, stand for, protect the church. What was the wall there for? The wall was there to keep people out. It was not there to keep the people in. It was not there to hold them. It was not the East Berlin Wall. It was not to keep them in. The wall was there to keep the evil out.

Also in those days many letters went from the nobles of Judah to Tobiah, and Tobiah's letters came to them.

For many in Judah were bound by oath to him because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah the son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.

In Nehemiah we are continuing the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem. Nehemiah had lots of trouble. As we have said before, show us a church with lots of trouble - they are probably going the right way. Probably, more than likely. The happy church on the corner, the church with no controversy is probably not going the right way. We see that Nehemiah started to rebuild the wall, did something good.

In verse 6 Nehemiah steps up. That’s what we have to do. There is an injustice in the world. People are being deceived by people who demonstrated in front of the church - many humanistic people, a couple of Pastors, everybody gathering together, homosexuals, believers, non-believers and Moslems. And every body is OK.
